Contributing Writer & Editor
Meet Tricia Childs
Tricia brings experience as a senior copywriter and editor for Word of Life, where her work spans magazine features, ministry stories, newsletters, and campaign copy. She is credited as Head Writer of the Fall 2026 Word of Life Experience magazine and has also written newsletters and other communications for Grand Rapids City Young Life.
Tricia is also my wife, and she contributes writing and editorial support on selected projects. I remain your main point of contact, leading the project from our first conversation through delivery. Together, we bring hands-on ministry experience and professional communications experience to the work.
A Storyteller Shaped by Service
I’m Alexander Childs, a writer and ministry leader based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. For more than five years, I’ve worked alongside children, teenagers, young adults, families, volunteers, churches, and nonprofit partners.
Before I wrote about mission-driven work, I spent years doing it—leading youth and family programs, mentoring young people, building community partnerships, and serving in church ministries. That experience taught me that the strongest stories begin with listening.
I bring a practitioner’s understanding of service and ministry to every project, helping organizations communicate with dignity, clarity, and purpose so supporters can see the people and progress behind the mission. My background also includes elementary education, ongoing Master of Divinity studies, and authorship of the theological poetry collection Sonflowers.
